Andrew Constantinidis


Andrew Constantinidis enlisted in 126 Signal Squadron, (City of Box Hill), 1st Commando Regiment in 1985. After completing his initial employment training he was trained as a radio operator and posted to Commando Signal Troop. He was later promoted to L/Cpl and posted to Training Troop as an Instructor.

Seeking further challenges Andrew successfully undertook selection in 1990 for the Special Air Service Regiment.

In June 1996 Cpl Constantinidis was serving with 1 Squadron Special Air Service Regiment conducting a counter terrorism exercise in Townsville, Qld when two Blackhawk helicopters suffered a mid-air collison. In total, 17 soldiers from SASR and 5 Aviation Regiment perished in the accident.

Andrew will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his excellent skills as a radio operator and soldier.
