Edward Victor (EV) Walsh

in February 1960. Recruit training was not available and it was "On the Job Training" and after 4 months
Signalman Walsh qualified for Corporal and by years end he also qualified as a Sergeant. His Commanding Officer
refused to promoted him because he had not been in the CMF long enough. By July 1961 Corporal Walsh was promoted
Sergeant.
Between 1960 and 1973 WO2 Ted Walsh served in the 3rd LoC Regt, 112 Sig Sqn, and 4/19th Prince of Wales Light Horse.
On more than one occasion efforts were made to poach both he and his brother Laurie into 126 Signal Squadron (Special
Forces).
In 1973 WO2 Ted Walsh transferred to 126 Signal Squadron (Special Forces) where his was posted to Recruit Training
where he remained until discharge from the Army Reserve.
Being a self employed electrician did not stop Ted Walsh from attending a number of specialist course before coming
qualified as an instructor in boating, roping, rapelling and small arms coaching. Given the age difference between
him and his young recruits he never once failed to re-qualify for his Green Beret. WO2 EV Walsh served with the
Squadron from December 1973 to July 1984 & from 1987 to 1990.
